To get to know each of these leaders a little better before the conference, we asked them each the same four questions. James Rogers is Head of Mayo Clinic’s technology transfer and economic development group.

Be sure to register for the event — there’s still time — and join our LinkedIn group for the event.

    1. Who influenced you to get involved in healthcare and/or investing?

My influence mostly was the institution-the ability to work with Mayo.

    2. What do you think is the most important change happening in healthcare today?

Most important change is the ACA and it’s overall impact is still not fully understood. From an investing standpoint, the regulatory and reimbursement landscape.

    3. What is your biggest pitch pet peeve/what’s the most bizarre press pitch you’ve ever received?

We typically co-invest so we don’t have many stories there. We did have some interesting press interactions with our patent case that went to the Supreme Court-including a WSJ editorial entitled Hold the Mayo.

    4. What’s one piece of advice you would give to an entrepreneur?

Keep it lean and push hard. I actually think that right now is great time to be starting a company. I think things are beginning to turn and it’s great time to be putting bets on the table.
